Do I need to send a photo of my child?

No. This is where many parents stop, and it is the first thing we want to set down.

A Nidobook begins with one real family memory that you describe in words - where you were, what the light was doing, who was in the room. From that, we illustrate the child and their world. No child photo is required to order, and none is required to finish the book.

If you would like the illustrations to echo a likeness, you can share whatever you are comfortable sharing. If you would rather not, that is a complete answer, not a compromise. The book is built from your memory first, and the drawing follows.

What happens to our story and our details?

Your memory stays yours. The details you share are used for one purpose: to make your book.

We do not publish your family's story, and we do not use it in advertising. Anything you send stays with the small team who draws and assembles the book, and it is used only to build the pages you have asked for. Your privacy is not a feature we add on top - it is the condition the whole thing rests on.

Can I see the book before I pay?

Yes. This is the part we are proudest of, and the answer that surprises most first-time buyers.

We build the complete book - the cover, every spread, the child's name and world woven through each page - and send it to you to review. You read it the way the child will. Only when you are happy do you pay. If a line is not right, or a face does not feel like your family, we change it. Nothing is printed and nothing is charged until you say yes.

You are never asked to commit to a book you have not read.

What does a personalised baby memory book cost?

Pricing is stated up front, before you begin, and there are no separate charges for illustrations, names, or the digital keepsake PDF that comes with your order.

Nidobook sits in the mid-range of keepsake gifting - more considered than a mass-market book pulled off a shelf, less than a milestone toy that gets outgrown in a season. And because the whole book is approved before payment, the price you agree to is the price of a book you have already read.

How long does a custom children's book with the child's name take?

Every book is drawn from scratch from your memory, so it takes longer than adding a name to a template - that slowness is where the care lives.

You will always know where your book is in the process, and you will see it in full before anything is printed or paid for. If you are ordering around a date, tell us the date when you start, and we will tell you plainly whether it can be met.

What if our story is small?

Most of our books begin with something tiny. The first snowfall through the hospital window. The dog who would not leave the crib. The way your mother said the child's name for the first time.

A keepsake children's book gift does not need a dramatic story. Small, specific moments make the best books - they are the ones a child asks for again and again, long after the details of a big day have faded.

Hardcover or softcover?

Both editions hold the same story, drawn the same way, with the child and their world on every page.

The hardcover is the one to give: it survives being read on a lap, dropped on a floor, and opened again at bedtime. The softcover is the lighter, lower-priced way in, and it makes a lovely first book for a younger child. Both ship with a digital keepsake PDF, so the story has a safe home even before the parcel arrives.

How is this different from a book that just prints a name?

Many personalised children's books drop a name into a fixed story. Nidobook works the other way round: the story is built out of your memory, and the child's name and world are drawn into it.

That is the difference between a book with your child in it and a book about your child. One is a souvenir. The other is a keepsake.
