Your family details stay treated like family details.
Nidobook asks for personal stories so we can make a personal book. We keep that information private, use it only to create and fulfill your book and to support you, and we never ask for a child's photo. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who helps us, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
Effective June 9, 2026
We never ask for a child's photo
This is the heart of how we work, so it comes first. Nidobook never asks for, and you should never upload, a photo of the child the book is for. The illustrated child is drawn to resemble the family who loves them, inferred from the photos you provide of adult family members — not from a photo of the child.
We ask only for photos of family members and pets, and only when they help the illustrations. If a photo appears to be of a child, we may decline to use it and ask for a family or pet photo instead. There is no upgrade, premium tier, or optional path that accepts a child’s photo. The line stays where it is.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to make and deliver your book:
- Account and contact details: your name and email, and a shipping address when you order a printed edition.
- Questionnaire details: names, relationships, heritage, traditions, the moment you want to capture, tone, and any dedication or personal message.
- Photos of family members and pets that you choose to upload — never the child.
- Order and payment information: editions chosen and order status. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Basic usage and device information collected through analytics and error monitoring to keep the site working and improve it.
How we use what you share
We use your details and photos to write and illustrate the specific book you requested, to review it before printing, to produce and ship it, to provide support, and to send you order and delivery updates. We do not use your photos or story details to train models, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
Photo retention and deletion
We keep uploaded photos only as long as we need them to make and fulfill your book. Our retention period is 90 days after your order is fulfilled, after which the photos are deleted. You can ask us to delete your photos earlier at any time by writing to support@nidobook.com. Photos are stored privately with access controls, are never sold, and are shared with a print partner only as needed to produce your book, then removed from that fulfillment flow.
A note on likeness
To create the illustrated characters, our tools work from the photos you provide of family members. We do not build or store faceprints or biometric identifiers from your photos for identification, and we do not use them to recognize people elsewhere. If we ever add a feature that compares facial similarity to keep a character looking consistent across pages, any such data would be temporary, used only during that book’s creation, and not retained. We will update this policy before introducing anything that changes this.
Companies that help us run Nidobook
We share only the information needed for a specific job with trusted service providers who perform that job for us, under agreements to protect it:
- Hosting and infrastructure for the website.
- Database, sign-in, and secure photo storage.
- Story writing and illustration tools used to create your book.
- Payment processing for checkout.
- Print and shipping partners that produce and deliver printed editions.
- Email and text messaging providers for order and delivery updates.
- Error monitoring and product analytics to keep the site reliable.
These providers may process information in the United States. We share the minimum needed and do not permit them to use your information for their own purposes.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to delete uploaded photos, by writing to support@nidobook.com, and we will respond within a reasonable time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access or delete your information and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information. Self-service export and deletion tools are planned; until then we handle these requests by email.
Children
Nidobook is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and — as above — we never collect a child’s photo. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your family’s details safe and to limit who can see them.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the product grows. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date above. For any privacy question or request, write to support@nidobook.com — a real person reads it.
